Formulus turns Joomla custom fields into submission forms
Formulus is a free Joomla 6 form builder that uses custom fields for structured forms, submissions, notifications and file uploads.
Formulus lets administrators build and publish forms from Joomla custom fields, then collect and manage the responses.
This need appears when a site requires more than Joomla's basic contact workflow. Core provides the Contacts component and its contact form, while custom fields add defined fields to supported Joomla objects; neither is a general-purpose form builder with arbitrary rows, columns and stored submissions. A template override can change the markup and presentation of a core form, but not usually add a complete submission-management workflow. Sites that need that broader package generally reach for an extension. According to the listing, Formulus goes beyond core with grid-based form editing, 17 field types, file handling, administrator response storage, exports, mail templates, anti-robot measures, privacy integration and scheduled response purging.
It is aimed at organisations and site teams building enquiry, registration, application or feedback forms that need a controlled layout, multilingual messages, response records or safer handling of uploaded files. A site with one simple contact form, no need to retain submissions, or a team comfortable coding its own markup has little reason to install it.
Formulus is listed as a free download under the GPLv2 or later licence, from POUSSIN Cyrille, in the Directory's forms section. The listing shows no reviews and one other extension from the developer, so the visible directory track record is limited. It says compatibility is J6, but does not spell out support for other Joomla versions, dependencies, upload defaults and limits, the anti-robot mechanism, retention defaults, or how Excel export is produced. Those details, along with documentation and support arrangements, should be checked before deployment.
