Hutko adds a payment gateway to VirtueMart

The job is straightforward: it sends VirtueMart orders to Hutko so a customer can complete payment through that service.

This need exists because Joomla itself is not an ecommerce platform and its core does not provide a shopping cart, order workflow, or payment processor integration. VirtueMart supplies those store functions and uses payment plugins to connect checkout to individual gateways. A template override can change how the checkout looks, but it cannot replace the gateway-side transaction, tokenisation, or payment confirmation work. The developer says this plugin adds Hutko checkout options, including cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, instalments and payment links; those are beyond what Joomla core covers, and depend on a Hutko merchant account.

It is aimed at a VirtueMart shop whose operator has chosen Hutko as its payment provider, particularly where Hutko’s supported currencies, countries or payment methods match the store’s market. A Joomla site without VirtueMart, a shop already committed to another gateway, or a brochure site has no obvious use for it.
