JoomION Countdowner adds a two-stage date countdown

JoomION Countdowner displays a live countdown to a chosen date and can show different content when that countdown ends.

Countdowns come up on Joomla sites for launches, event openings, competitions, sales and other deadlines where a fixed date needs a visible front-end reminder. Joomla core can store and display dates in articles and custom fields, control publishing start and finish times, and handle scheduled content. It does not provide a general-purpose front-end days-and-hours countdown, so a site normally needs custom JavaScript and CSS, a template or module override, or an extension.

According to the listing, JoomION Countdowner goes beyond those core date controls by rendering the remaining days, hours, minutes and seconds, styling the digit blocks, optionally linking the whole display, and replacing the countdown with custom text after expiry. It also claims support for a second countdown that starts when the first ends, which is a more specific workflow than Joomla's ordinary publishing schedule.

This is aimed at site owners, event organisers and small teams that need a reusable, configurable countdown without building one into a template. A site that only needs an article's publication date, an expiry-controlled module, or a one-off custom script has little reason to add it.

The listing describes the extension as free software under GPLv2 or later, with no licence key and updates through Joomla's native updater. It lists compatibility with Joomla 5 and 6. JoomION has eight other extensions in the directory, while this entry has no reviews. Before installing, check timezone and daylight-saving behaviour, accessibility and responsive output, how expired and second-phase dates are configured, and whether the documentation or support covers your use case; the listing does not explain those details.
