CMSPatrol Backup keeps Joomla backups on the same server
CMSPatrol Backup is a Joomla extension for creating manual local copies of a site's database and files without connecting to a cloud service.
Joomla core does not provide a complete site-backup interface that packages the database and filesystem together for later recovery. Administrators usually combine hosting snapshots, database tools such as phpMyAdmin, and filesystem downloads, or install a backup extension. A template override is not relevant to this job. According to the listing, CMSPatrol Backup goes beyond core by creating both parts of an archive, processing them in timed steps, and allowing directories to be excluded.
The free download is limited to on-demand local backups whose archives remain on the Joomla site. The developer says paid PRO editions add schedules, restoration into the live site, and S3, WebDAV or SFTP storage; the listing does not give their prices. It also mentions CLI cron support through php cli/joomla.php cmspatrolbackup:run, which may matter for larger media collections.
This is aimed at site owners, agencies and administrators who want a manually initiated, server-local backup process, particularly where sending data to a third party is undesirable. A site already covered by dependable hosting snapshots, an external backup system or an established backup extension has less reason to add it. It is also not a useful fit for anyone expecting scheduled or remote backups from the free edition.
Before installing, note that the directory classifies it as a free download, while the additional editions are licensed separately. Matthias Koepf has one other extension shown in the directory, and CMSPatrol Backup has no reviews there. Documentation is listed as unavailable. Check pricing, retention and encryption, archive access permissions, recovery procedures, storage requirements, and whether the free edition meets your restoration needs; the listing does not answer those points.
