FG Favicon Manager generates Joomla's full favicon set

Favicons are a small but surprisingly broad publishing task: browsers, pinned tabs, Apple devices, Android launchers and dark-mode interfaces can each expect different files or metadata. Joomla's usual core-level approach is to let the active template reference a favicon, while a site builder can add more link tags and files through the template's main document or an override. That covers a basic browser icon, but Joomla does not automatically turn one image into a complete icon set, generate a manifest, create Apple splash-screen metadata or manage light and dark favicon variants.

According to the listing, FG Favicon Manager goes beyond that basic arrangement by generating PNG sizes, an .ico file, an Apple touch icon, optional Android/PWA assets, theme metadata and administrator-side icons. It also claims to handle template favicon conflicts and cache generated output. Those are conveniences for sites that would otherwise maintain image files and head markup manually.

The likely audience is a branded public site, web app or agency-managed Joomla installation that needs consistent browser, mobile and administrator icons without editing its template. A simple brochure site with one ordinary favicon, or a team comfortable maintaining a few static assets in its template, has little reason to add it.

The extension is a free download from ferino and the listing states Joomla 5.x or 6.x, PHP 8.1+, and GD or Imagick requirements. SVG fallback generation additionally depends on rsvg-convert and PHP DOM. The directory shows 11 other extensions from ferino, but this listing has no reviews. It does not establish how the conflict modes behave with particular templates, the performance cost of generation, or support arrangements beyond its documentation and update-system references; test those points on a staging site.
