DLS Gallery Lite adds managed photo albums to Joomla

In practical terms, DLS Gallery Lite lets an administrator create photo albums, upload or import images, edit each image’s title, alt text, caption and order, then publish an album through a module, content tag or menu item. According to the listing, the Lite edition also provides a grid, pagination and a lightbox.

This job comes up because Joomla’s core handles the underlying files, but it does not provide a dedicated photo-album manager and gallery presentation system. The Media Manager can upload and organise media, and articles, modules and menu items can display images or content. A developer can also build a gallery with custom markup and a template override, but the album administration, image-level fields and front-end interaction would need to be assembled separately. Gallery extensions are the usual shortcut when a site needs a repeatable publishing workflow. DLS Gallery Lite goes beyond core by combining album management with configurable grid presentation, captions, a lightbox and multiple ways to place an album on a site.

It is aimed at photographers, clubs, schools, event sites and editorial teams that maintain more than a handful of image collections inside Joomla. A small brochure site with occasional inline images, or a site already using another gallery or media platform, has little reason to install it.

The listing marks it as a free download under GPLv2 or later and shows Joomla 5 and 6 compatibility. Dominik Lehner has six other extensions listed, while this entry has no reviews. Before installing, check the documentation and support arrangements, the exact import and upload limits, accessibility of the generated gallery, performance with large albums, and whether features such as masonry, video support or infinite scrolling require the separate Pro edition. The listing does not state the Pro price or license terms.
