FG Watermark stamps logos and text onto article images
FG Watermark adds logo and text watermarks to images embedded in Joomla articles while leaving the original files untouched.
Its job is to generate watermarked versions of images used inside Joomla article content.
This comes up when a site wants visible branding, attribution, or protection on editorial images without manually editing every file. Joomla core provides the Media Manager and article editor for uploading and placing images, but it does not automatically apply logo or text watermarks to those images. A template override can change how article output is presented, and CSS can place a visual overlay, but neither is the same as generating a processed image. Sites that need automatic image handling generally turn to an extension.
According to the listing, FG Watermark goes beyond those core and template approaches by processing images in configured folders, supporting image and text watermarks together, applying placement, margin and opacity settings, excluding selected images with a CSS class, and caching generated output. It is listed as a free download for Joomla 4.4+, 5 and 6; the developer says the last v2.x release remains available for Joomla 3.10.
That makes it relevant to editorial, publishing, photography, or client sites where many contributors add images and a consistent mark is required. A small site with few images, or one that edits watermarks before upload, has little reason to install it.
Before installing, check the server requirements for the listed Imagick and rsvg-related image handling, along with write permissions and cache storage. The directory shows developer ferino has seven other extensions, while FG Watermark has no reviews. The listing does not explain performance on large libraries, cache invalidation details, or how generated files should be managed during migrations.
