HNAM Help Desk adds ticket workflows to Joomla

HNAM Help Desk gives Joomla sites a customer-facing system for submitting, tracking and answering support tickets.

Support requests eventually need more structure than an email inbox or contact form: a site may need ownership, statuses, assignments, internal notes and a record of replies. Joomla core provides users, access control, categories and general content-management tools, but it does not provide a help-desk ticket lifecycle or customer support portal. A template override can change the presentation of existing output, not create that workflow. Sites normally either assemble a process around core features or install an extension; HNAM goes beyond core by adding ticket records, staff handling, customer replies, notifications, attachments and ticket-specific status tracking.

According to the listing, Squirrel's free extension is aimed at businesses, membership organisations or service teams handling support inside a Joomla site. It may suit a team that needs separate customer and staff views, private staff notes, category and ACL controls, or optional guest submissions. A brochure site with occasional enquiries, or a team already working in an external help desk, has little reason to add it.

HNAM Help Desk is listed as a free download in JED's help desk section. The page identifies Squirrel as the developer and shows two other extensions under “Other extensions”, but provides no useful track-record detail here. Before installing, check the stated Joomla 5 and 6 and PHP 8.1–8.4 requirements, test mail delivery and attachment handling, and clarify migration from another ticket system, upgrade policy, support arrangements and the availability or pricing of the separately mentioned Pro edition. The listing currently shows no reviews.
