Ideal Weather Lite adds current OpenWeather data to Joomla

Ideal Weather Lite is a free Joomla module for displaying current weather conditions for a chosen town.

The extension's job is to fetch current conditions from OpenWeather and present them in a Joomla module, including temperature, description, humidity and wind.

Joomla core does not provide a weather feed, an OpenWeather connection or a ready-made weather module. A site owner could build a custom module that calls an API, or have a developer create one and use a template override to change its output; an override alone cannot supply the external data. That is why weather extensions exist. According to the listing, Ideal Weather Lite goes beyond core by handling the API key, server-side file caching, fallback data for up to six hours, multiple module instances and weather icons. It also offers a preview mode and language-specific descriptions on multilingual sites. The listing says it requires Joomla 4.4, 5 or 6, PHP 8.1 to 8.4 and a free OpenWeather API key.

It is aimed at sites where local conditions are useful content: tourism and hospitality websites, outdoor venues, travel publishers, local organisations or businesses serving a particular area. A general-purpose site with no location-related audience, and a site already displaying weather through another service, has little reason to install it.

The download is free, requires a free customer account on idealpc.ch and is released under GPL v2 or later. The directory shows two other extensions from IdealPC, while this listing has no reviews. Before installing, check OpenWeather's API limits, terms, attribution and data handling, plus how the module handles units, time zones and an expired or unavailable key. The listing does not give Pro pricing, support terms, update frequency or details of the developer's wider maintenance record.
