Ideal Weather connects Joomla modules to OpenWeather forecasts

Ideal Weather adds current conditions and short-range forecasts from OpenWeather to Joomla pages through a module or, optionally, a YOOtheme Pro element.

Weather information is a common addition to travel sites, hotels, outdoor businesses, local news sites and community portals. Joomla core can place a module in a template position and provides general caching and access controls, but it does not include a weather-data module or an OpenWeather connector. A developer could build that integration in a custom extension or template code; a template override would normally only change the markup of data that already exists, not fetch the data itself. Ideal Weather goes beyond core by retrieving conditions and forecasts, presenting them with weather icons and moon-phase information, and caching the response with fallback data when the service is unavailable, according to the listing.

It is aimed at site owners who need live weather for a specific town, particularly teams already using YOOtheme Pro and wanting its additional element. The listing says the YOOtheme option requires YOOtheme Pro, while the Joomla module is the broader integration. A site with no weather-related content, or one happy to publish manually maintained information, has no obvious use for it.

Before installing, check the following:

  • The extension's own price is not stated in the listing. An OpenWeather API key is described as free, but updates require a download key for one year; confirm the commercial terms.
  • IdealPC is the developer, and the page shows zero reviews for this listing. It gives no wider directory track record.
  • Confirm the stated Joomla 4.4, 5 or 6 and PHP 8.1–8.4 requirements, API limits and attribution obligations with OpenWeather. The listing also does not explain the exact forecast endpoint, data-retention details, or what happens after the update-key period.
