YapComments adds threaded article discussions to Joomla 5 and 6

Joomla core does not provide a general-purpose comment system for articles. It handles publishing, access control, forms and article voting, but it does not give visitors a discussion thread with replies, comment moderation, or per-comment reactions. A template override can change how article content or an existing output is displayed, but it cannot by itself provide the comment database, permissions and moderation workflow. Sites that need those features normally install an extension.

According to the listing, YapComments goes beyond core by adding threaded replies, likes and dislikes, Markdown editing, pinned comments, administrator moderation, guest posting controls and filters for spam, words and domains. It also claims server-rendered output with schema markup, English and Arabic support, and right-to-left support. Those are claims from the developer, not results from our testing.

It is aimed at publishers, community sites and organisations that want discussion attached directly to Joomla articles and are prepared to moderate it. A site with no user discussion, a brochure site, or one already using a separate commenting service has little reason to install it. Teams wanting only a simple article rating can use core functionality instead.
