JoomION Scroll2Top adds reading progress to back-to-top controls

JoomION Scroll2Top adds a floating back-to-top control that can also indicate a visitor’s reading progress.

This addresses two separate interface jobs: helping visitors return to the top of a long page, and showing them how much of that page remains. Long articles, documentation, terms, and landing pages commonly create the need, particularly on mobile screens.

Joomla can already provide a basic Back to Top control through template functionality, and a site can add an anchor link or customise that control with a template override. A developer can also calculate scroll progress with custom JavaScript. The gap here is the combined, configurable interface: according to the listing, the extension adds several progress-display styles, responsive settings, custom jump targets, sticky-header offsets, and page-level variations through its module. Those options are beyond the simple control normally supplied by a template.

It is aimed at sites with long-form content or a design team that wants a visible, custom-positioned reading indicator without maintaining its own JavaScript. A small brochure site with short pages, or a site whose template already has an acceptable back-to-top link, has little reason to install it.

The listing describes JoomION Scroll2Top as free GPLv2-or-later software for Joomla 5 and 6, with updates through Joomla’s native updater. The Directory lists JoomION as having 14 other extensions, but this listing has no reviews. Before installation, check the extension’s behaviour with the site’s template, sticky navigation, accessibility settings, and any existing scroll scripts. The listing does not explain support arrangements, performance on unusually long or dynamically loaded pages, or how custom HTML icons are handled. It also has no independent user feedback yet.
